confessions of a waiter
David woodward

David’s memoir about his life in hospitality highlights his many ups and downs, recounting numerous hilarious anecdotes when dealing with the general public. Although from the outside it may seem like a tale of glamour, celebrities and TV, David shows the many pitfalls, hardships and fractured relationships, that a life in catering can bring.

David’s wish was not only to entertain with this book, but for colleagues and guests to see something of themselves in his account. It was also intended to bring focus on some of today’s issues within the industry, from staffing to service charge.

His journey takes you around the opulent surroundings of five star hotels, his brief moment of ‘fame’ on Channel Four’s ‘Four in a bed’, to the life of celebrity. In a world where putting on a show is everything, it is important to remember the stress, relentless hours and hidden dangers, that this quest for perfection can bring.

“Hilarious, poignant, and brilliant! This toned my abs from belly laughing. I loved every minute!”

- Liz Lawler, author of Don’t Wake Up

“ Oh La La!! A highly entertaining, amusing and brutally honest look, not only into the world of hospitality, but also David's own life journey.”

— Fred Sirieix, TV personality
